Trailer Equipment - Trailer X-Press is looking for a Service Manager.
This position manages the Service Department, supervises shop technicians and parts personnel, and supervises and coordinates the activities of the technicians and parts personnel on their assigned shifts.
It leads the activities of the Service department to ensure that the equipment is always available, dependable, and safe.
It oversees preventative maintenance programs and ensures compliance with corporate policies and government regulations.
Primary Duties:
Supervises, trains, and coordinates the work assignments of all service Department technicians.
Analyze maintenance costs and recommend fleet utilization and replacement to the General Operations Manager.
Track fleet inventory of equipment.
Assist in developing the shop budget by providing input on policy, costs, and established metrics.
Ensure the maintenance records for the fleet are accurate and up-to-date.
Complete performance reviews of staff and jointly determine areas of development and training requirements.
Communicate maintenance requirements to ensure maximum efficiency and implement correction actions as required.
Participate in the recruitment and selection of maintenance personnel as required.
Identify maintenance employee training requirements and ensure successful completion.
Prepare management reporting as required.
Technician timekeeping and payroll submission Performance standards Complete special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Lead shop personnel in daily activities to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
Shop safety and compliance with published safety standards.
Coordinate outside vendors for equipment repair.
Maintaining the accuracy of the unit board count, preparing weekly documentation of unit counts Preparing customer estimates and communicating them with the customer Carries out supervisory responsibilities by Trailer Equipment/Xpress policies and procedures and applicable laws.
Motivates employees involved in the maintenance and repair of equipment.
Inspect completed work to ensure the quality of work performed and conformance to maintenance standards.
Studies maintenance schedules, estimates work hour requirements for job assignments, and schedules work for technicians.
Provides assistance and guidance to technicians in analyzing and resolving work problems.
Acts as the first line of dispute resolution.
Coordinates activities with the Parts Room to ensure that parts, equipment, and tools are requisitioned promptly.
Maintains paperwork and computer files as needed for TE equipment.
Interacts courteously and professionally with customers, vendors, and fellow employees regarding trailer repairs and other Service Department business.
Assists the Operations Manager in the overall administration of departmental responsibilities.
Assist in Formulating, recommending, and implementing departmental policies.
Assist in establishing departmental goals and oversee the attainment of goals.
Develop, plan, and administer departmental operating and capital budgets.
Manage and direct all departmental activities.
Train, supervise, and direct work performed by staff; provide discipline and evaluate work performance of all shop employees.
Prepares vehicle and equipment specifications as needed.
Administers maintenance software assist with operations support areas (Road failures, Accidents) Warranty administration, identify warranty repairs outlined within the manufacturer's guidelines, acquire parts, assure repairs are promptly performed, and log and track payment or reimbursement for parts and labor.
Interview and hire new service department technicians.
Writing up estimates for outside customers.
Pulling trailers in and out of the shop when the switcher driver is on the road.
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (Recommended)
Experience:
Prior management experience (Preferred).
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
